I’ve been assembling and illustrating the monthly listings for Manchester’s famous Rock "n" Roll venue since 2005. Back then I had free reign creatively and would often just see what came out of my mind/pen each month and roll with it. More recently, the covers have featured artists that have been gracing the stage that month. This is a selection of covers from the last 5 years, starting with the most recent and working backwards. With the exception of the 18 Ages of Elvis issue, these were all A5 booklets, printed on a Risograph by the friendly folks at MARC.

Elvis always makes an appearance for celebrations at N&D. For their 18th birthday I did this illustration of 18 Elvises, charting his journey from fresh faced hunk to his chunky finish. From November 2009.

I really like this one. Night & Day did a screening of the Daft Punk film Electroma during that month, as well as putting on Prinzhorn Dance School. So I put them all on the cover. From September 2007.

From January 2008.

From October 2007.

This cover featuring the hard rock band from Washington, D.C. went down really well with everyone, including the band, which is always a nice bonus. From February 2008.

Spooky floating heads? Check. Psychedelic, smokey lettering? Check. From April 2009.

From November 2007.

Another one that went down well with the band. Their manager got in touch after the gig to say that they really liked it. My job is done! From December 2008.

I like this simple treatment of Kimya. And the Sideshow Bob hairstyle. I did a nice little poster for Tokyo Police Club on the reverse. Click to reveal it. From April 2008.

From September 2008.

I'm a big fan of the sometime Beastie Boys keyboard player and solo star in his own right. From April 2007.

Around this time N&D was mentioned on the hit TV show Lost as the venue for Charlie's first gig. Click to reveal my homage on the reverse. From June 2007.

It was nice to draw the Can drummer in his okra patterned shirt. At the time he was also a spitting image for my good friend and fellow illustrator Stanley Chow.

This was a popular cover that I sold a few prints of. From January 2007.
+
To celebrate Valentine's Day, two iconic lovers in an iconic embrace. From February 2006.

A personal favourite. This is one that came out of some 'brainstorming' in the pub. Victorian body builders are funny I guess. From May 2005.
+
Another personal favourite. It led to another poster comparing old ladies to biscuits (click to reveal). I can't really explain. From June 2005.
+
To celebrate Guy Fawkes Night. And a reference to the Arthur Russell/Dinosaur L song of the same name. From November 2005.
+
Maybe this is my favourite… This was to celebrate the installation of air-conditioning in N&D. A cool drawing on red hot paper! From August 2005.
+
Self explanatory I think. From July 2005.
