The idea behind these was to create illustrations that evoked Levi’s ad art of the ’50′s and ’60′s, at the same time showing the beautiful detailing and meticulous finishing that LVC are known for. So we picked out some bits and pieces from the Levi's archive and chose a few poses that would show off the various outfits. I then took a lot of reference shots and set about trying to match those to the old poses from the archive as closely as possible. It was time-consuming, laborious, fiddly and a whole heap of fun! Plus, the process neatly echoes the kind of finesse and attention-to-detail that LVC put into their collections, which are about breathing new life into vintage designs. Stay tuned for more of these in the SS14 look book too. Layout by Mike Fallows and art direction by Nick Jones.
